Description |
The Human Resources Generalist position performs para-professional/technical human resource services, is a primary point of contact for all Veterinary Teaching Hospital (VTH) staff and faculty supervisors, and will be responsible for understanding HR practices and policies for the College (CVMBS) as well as the University (CSU). This position provides support for talent acquisition, onboarding, employee life cycle management, performance management, and training and development. Additional administrative duties include records management, leave and systems data entry as well as processing, tracking and maintenance of personnel information, records, and electronic archiving systems. Job duties include providing accurate information and responses to HR related questions and inquiries and ensuring strict confidentiality in all HR communication and records. The VTH HR team supports more than 350 employees within the hospital.

Essential Duties |
This is a hands-on position requiring a wide range of knowledge of varied human resource practices and policies, including working knowledge of federal and state laws and regulations, as well as the ability to interpret and implement University and College regulations and policies for overall compliance. This position requires the application of HR knowledge and theory in a complex, fast-paced, and ever-changing environment.
This position is responsible for developing collaborative working relationships to deliver HR solutions, and must clearly understand the vision and strategies of each service within the VTH while completing daily transactional tasks. Successful candidates will have a strong work ethic, uphold confidentiality, have an internal customer focus, and the skills and flexibility to interact effectively with a range of people.
The employee in this position is designated as essential personnel and may need to be available to support hospital personnel in times of campus closures.
The successful candidate must be legally authorized to work in the United States by the proposed start date; the department will not provide visa sponsorship for this position.

Skills, Education & Other |
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Management/Administration, or closely related field OR any bachelor’s degree and two (2) years of professional HR experience.
- Minimum of one (1) year of experience in human resources, talent management, and/or recruiting as a primary responsibility.
- Demonstrated experience with human resources information systems (HRIS) like Oracle HR System, PeopleAdmin Talent Management System (TMS), Kuali, TimeClock Plus (TCP), and/or other related systems.
- Demonstrated high-level communication skills and ability to engage with and effectively communicate complex information to a diverse audience.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Human Resources, Business Management/Administration, Organizational Development, or closely related field.
- Professional certification such as PHR/SHRM-CP.
- Demonstrated leadership, mentorship, and/or supervisory experience in a progressive HR environment.
- Ability to show initiative and independence as well as ability to function well in an atmosphere that promotes teamwork.
- Demonstrated ability to be detail-oriented and highly organized with experience tracking multiple projects while dealing with competing priorities.
- Experience working within a medium to large size organization with multiple employee groups.
- Experience in a higher education environment, preferably in Human Resources, Equal Opportunity, or Talent Development.
- Human resources experience in a medical or healthcare environment.
- Demonstrated ability working with Microsoft Office Suite and an aptitude for quickly learning new technology.
- Knowledge and experience with records retention and maintenance.
- Knowledge and experience creating and delivering supervisor/employee professional development programs.
- Knowledge and experience implementing principles of Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion in the workplace.

Salary Range |
Salary Range: $50,000 - $65,000 with full benefits
Travel funds are limited to a maximum to $1K per successful candidate.
A combination of signing bonus and relocation expenses may be considered for successful candidates.
