    Bio for Presenter Dave Dixon

    Dave Dixon is NCHRA’s Legislative Director and an attorney with the Employment Law Services staff in the Northern Regional Office of Mountain States Employers Council (MSEC).  A manager before law school, Mr. Dixon helps employers solve problems in all settings.  After graduating from Duke Law School with honors in 1999, Mr. Dixon has focused exclusively on advising and representing employers in the full spectrum of labor & employment issues, including wage & hour class actions, individual wage claims, harassment, discrimination, disability accommodation, retaliation, unfair competition, trade secrets, and other matters.  He is admitted to practice in California, Colorado, Nevada and Wisconsin.

    Mr. Dixon strongly believes in reducing risk through proactive management education.  He has provided numerous presentations on topics including harassment prevention, wrongful discharge, ADA/FMLA/WC overlap, wage & hour compliance, workplace privacy, workplace violence, reductions in force, and more.  In the early 2000’s, he co-authored a California-specific HR law treatise for his students at California State University (Sacramento).  At the request of the California State Council of SHRM, he later co-authored the 1st and 2nd editions of the SHRM California Learning SystemTM and helped coordinate annual HR participation in legislative affairs by all California SHRM affiliates, including the Kern County Society for Human Resource Management (KCSHRM), for which he served as Legislative Director for several years and as President in 2010, before returning to his home town of Fort Collins, where he is a fifth generation resident.

    This presentation will provide HR professionals with a summary of the most significant developments of the past year, including statutory, regulatory and case law developments in numerous employment law fields, as well as an update on the current status of significant judicial responses to aggressive enforcement agency tactics.  It will also provide a glimpse into significant pending legislation and an update on NCHRA’s participation with other Colorado SHRM affiliates to enhance the profession through consistent expression of the HR voice in legislative and other public policy discussion.

    • Key points from recent regulatory developments
    • Latest lessons from judicial decisions, including Title VII, ADA, FMLA, wage & hour, and others
    • Update on judicial responses to aggressive NLRB and EEOC tactics
    • Update on current federal and state legislation of interest to HR professionals
