Position Summary |
Brendle Group seeks a full-time Equity and Engagement Planner, or Associate Planner, with two or more years of experience to join our team, in pursuit of our company mission to accelerate equitable solutions to address the climate crisis. We are searching for a bilingual (English and Spanish) planner with skills in developing equity-centered engagement approaches and passion for engaging community members of diverse backgrounds. This role will support energy, water, and climate projects, with a focus on community outreach, stakeholder engagement, and capacity building. The position is part of our Planning & Engagement Service Team and will regularly collaborate with our Engineering, Analytics, Strategy & Impact, and Operations Service Teams. We will fill the role at the Associate Planner or Planner level, based on years of relevant experience.
With offices in Fort Collins and Denver, CO, we would prefer a Denver-based candidate to support local and regional customers. Because the position emphasizes community engagement, there is an expectation to regularly attend events on weekends and weeknights. For a full-time employee in this position, we would anticipate ~75% of work to occur during normal business hours and ~25% of work to occur on weekends/weeknights.
We offer flexible schedules and hybrid (remote and in-office) work opportunities. We are committed to inclusive and equitable hiring practices, recognizing historic inequities in the engineering, planning, and sustainability professions. |
Essential Duties |
• Manage and Attend Outreach Events (30%)
- Lead and support execution of community outreach events and engagement activities (estimated 30-40 events per year, including weekend and weeknight engagements and periodic overnight travel).

- Manage the inventory of event materials and supplies and coordinate material production and restocking.
- Develop and Implement Engagement Strategies (30%)
- Help design and deliver equity-centered stakeholder and community engagement approaches.
- Leverage tools such as equity-based maps to identify and target traditionally underrepresented and/or marginalized groups in engagement efforts.
- Support the development of bilingual English and Spanish engagement materials, using an equity lens.
- Track and report on engagement outcomes (e.g., focus group and survey results) to plan strategies and recommendations.
- Engage in partnerships with organizations that serve traditionally underrepresented and/or marginalized community members, as needed, to advance engagement objectives.
• Support other Planning and Engagement Activities (25%)
- Contribute to the development of plans, strategies, and policies for a variety of sustainability topics (e.g., energy efficiency, transportation electrification, climate resilience, etc.).
- Manage and support tasks for client and internal projects.
- Facilitate and support workshop delivery with cross-functional teams.
- Support the tracking and identification of equity and climate justice funding opportunities for communities.
- Help develop compelling narratives and storytelling for projects and program communications, with an emphasis on diverse perspectives and experiences.
• Support the Company and other Service Teams (15%)
- Support the implementation of tactics to embed an equity focus across company and client projects and programs.
- Support development, tracking, and reporting of equity-based output, outcome, and impact measures.
- Support capacity-building efforts for colleagues at Brendle Group to grow their skills in equity work.
- Participate in company-wide meetings and other collaboration opportunities.
