    About the Program

    Ethics Training Course

    Title: Navigating Ethics in the Workplace

    Purpose: To demonstrate a business case for creating a workplace where business ethics drive business decisions, and why the message of ethics can establish and change the culture in the organization.

    Trainers: Amanda Ericson, HRx Services and Mike Kohler, Larimer County Workforce Team – Elevate Training Staff

    Goals of the session:

    1. To establish what business ethics are for an organization
    2. How to create values that align with the business ethics for a company
    3. Review the Code of Ethics and what it means
    4. Review what happens when messaging doesn’t align with the ethics of the organization
    5. How to get back on track if and when there is a mis-step

    What people will walk away with:

    1. A better understanding of the importance of bringing intentional focus to ethics in the workplace
    2. Tools for how to build their own ethics strategy
    3. Steps for how to work through alignment issues when they happen

    Session Information:

    2. Working to satisfy the ethics training requirement for HRCI

    About the Presenters

     

    Amanda Ericson

    HRx Services – Principal

    SPHR, SHRM-SCP

    A graduate of CU Boulder with her Bachelor’s.  Amanda has worked in the Human Resources field for 18 years. She began her career in recruiting and talent acquisition. She continued in her career predominantly working in consulting roles working to support HR in various companies. Her primary focus has been in compliance and strategy. She has worked in a variety of industries in both the private and public sectors.  Amanda is one of the founding partners of HRx.

    Amanda has presented at many conferences and workshops focusing on HR best practices and strategy. She has testified at the State Capitol and has lobbied on HR issues at both the State and National levels. Additionally, Amanda gives her time as the Director for COSHRM the state SHRM (Society for Human Resource Management) council, serves as a chair for the Weld County Workforce Development Board, and serves as a board member to DisruptHR.

     

    Mike Kohler, Elevate Training Coordinator

    Larimer County Economic & Workforce Development Department

    Mike Kohler has been a business owner, business coach, and communication consultant and was a communications executive for two of the largest U.S. broadband companies. He now manages leadership and workforce development training for the Larimer County Economic & Workforce Development Department. He is an active member of the Northern Colorado Human Resources Association and Association of Talent Development.

    Mike co-authored The Educated Franchisee, a guide for prospective franchise entrepreneurs. In 2015, he received a Teacher of the Year honor from West Virginia University’s marketing and communications graduate program, which was recognized in 2015 as America’s top online grad program. In 2018, he was recognized as Teacher of the Year in Purdue University’s graduate program in strategic communications.

    Mike earned his MBA and a Bachelor’s in Communications from the University of Nebraska-Omaha, where he was honored with Distinguished Service Awards from the College of Public Affairs and Community Service and the Department of Communication.
